Q: What is Holistic Fitness
A: Holistic Fitness is the peaceful balance and harmony of body, mind, and spirit. This harmony comes about through exercise, nutrition, discipline, mindfulness, and meditation and brings forth the best version of you.
Q: I thought fitness referred to physical activity. How can you exercise the mind and spirit?
A: Physical activity is very important in maintaining overall fitness. But we are more than just our bodies so it’s equally important to keep our minds and spirits fit as well. Providing our minds with challenges (which act as resistance workouts) to push ourselves out of our comfort zones is key to keeping it fit. For our spirits, meditation provides what is needed.
Q: What is Ayurveda?
A: Ayurveda is a 5000 year old science which originated in India. It literally means the “science of life.” According to Ayurveda, even person is born with a unique constitution, or pattern of energy, comprised of the 5 elements. The 3 energies that combine to create each unique constitution are known as Vata (Air and Space), Pitta (Fire and Water), and Kapha (Water and Earth). We all have these 3 energies within us, but in different combinations.
